New Haven's entire program is oriented towards helping the entire family heal. Clinicians find little value in focusing on who is at fault, rather spend their energies helping families to know what to do next. Treatment centers around what each member of the family can do differently to ensure that the future is hopeful and bright for all participants.
A family systems approach is a supportive, non-judgmental style of therapy. Troubled teenage girls respond well to family-based treatment because they know that the treatment focus is not solely on them; they no longer feel the shame of being "the problem" in the family. We often hear parents wondering out loud why New Haven is working when other treatment centers have not. Our systemic approach allows a safe emotional environment to develop in the therapy office, which translates directly into home life.
We know from experience that for change to be lasting, each member of the family must change for the better. New Haven brings its vast resources to bear on helping families heal from the past, thrive in the present, and create a hopeful future, hand-in-hand with their daughters.
